Solved asus laptop "drops" connection to internet but all other devices stay connected solution solved my asus x555l wont connect to the internet, all other devises working fine. please help.. None of the pcs on the network were able to connect to the internet. tried switching back to my old router, a netgear n300, and it no longer connects. was working fine until i tried swapping to the new router. when connected to the asus router, ipconfig shows my ip address as 169.x.x.x instead of the 192.168.x.x like it should be.. I have an asus rt-n66u. recently the router has been very spotty, and now it has stopped working, both for wifi and wired connections. i do have internet service; i am able to connect directly through the modem..

Hello, i just moved from my slow (but very reliable) dsl (1.5 mbps) to charter cable internet (15 mbps). i am using a netgear cable modem and an asus rt-n56u router. the router worked perfectly. I have an asus rt-ac52u router that for some reason won't connect to the internet. if i plug my laptop into the modem directly through ethernet i can get internet but when i try to plug the ethernet into the router it doesn't work. i can still connect to the wireless networks just cant get to any sites..
